Resort Sitters Babysitting Services Policies

Cancellations By Client, Changes and Additional Appointments

  • A deposit is charged to your credit card in advance of each appointment.  THE DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE IF THE CLIENT CANCELS AN APPOINTMENT FOR ANY REASON WITH 7 DAYS’ (168 HOURS) OR LESS NOTICE PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED BEGINNING OF THE APPOINTMENT.  An appointment may be canceled at no charge with at least 8 days’ notice.
  • IF THE CLIENT CANCELS AN APPOINTMENT FOR ANY REASON WITHIN 4 HOURS OF THE SCHEDULED BEGINNING OF THE APPOINTMENT, THE CLIENT’S CREDIT CARD WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE 4 HOUR APPOINTMENT MINIMUM, AT THE HOURLY RATE APPLICABLE TO THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF CHILDREN ON THE RESERVATION, INCLUDING A 5% CHARGE FOR THE LOSS OF THE CASH/CHECK DISCOUNT.
  • The client must call the Resort Sitters office, regardless of time of day or night, to notify us of a cancellation.  Please speak to us or leave a detailed message, including your name and the date and time of the appointment to be canceled.  Your appointment is considered canceled as of the time you call the Resort Sitters office and provide that information.  Although you may also notify your sitter as a courtesy, you may cancel a reservation only by calling the Resort Sitters office.
  • A client no-show at the appointment time and location is considered a cancellation without notice and the client will be charged the 4 hour minimum cancellation fee.  If the sitter cannot locate the client at the appointment time and location, the sitter will make a reasonable effort to contact the client by phone for a ½ hour before leaving the location and reporting the no-show cancellation to the Resort Sitters office.
  • A request to move a confirmed appointment to a different day requires cancellation of the existing appointment, including any applicable loss of deposit or cancellation fee, and a new reservation and deposit.
  • All change requests must go through the Resort Sitters office, not the sitter.
  • There is a $20 fee for any change to a confirmed appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled beginning of the appointment, assuming the scheduled sitter is able to accommodate the change.  If the scheduled sitter cannot accommodate the requested change, the appointment will be canceled, including any applicable loss of deposit or cancellation fee, and we will attempt to book a new appointment with a new deposit.  Changes subject to this policy include appointment times, location and the number and ages of children on the appointment.
  • Requests for additional appointments must go through the Resort Sitters office, not through the sitter.

Cancellation By Sitter

  • Very rarely, a sitter becomes unavailable due to illness or other unavoidable complication.  If a sitter has to cancel an appointment, we will contact you as soon as possible.  We will arrange a substitute sitter if one is available.  If no substitute sitter is available, we will refund all Resort Sitters charges with our sincere apologies.  We will also help you contact other agencies to see if they have an available sitter.

Appointments

  • There is a 4 hour billing minimum for each appointment.
  • The maximum number of children under the care of one sitter depends on the children’s ages, special needs or circumstances, and the particular sitter selected for the appointment.  We will let you know if more than one sitter will be required for your appointment.  Generally speaking, one sitter may care for two infants or up to 5 or 6 older children.
  • The hourly rate charged is based on the total number of minors (under age 18) present during the appointment.  Please specify the number and ages of the children when you book.  If the number of children present varies during the appointment, the sitter will adjust the rate accordingly.  If the total number and/or ages of the children differs from the information in the confirmed reservation, the sitter may adjust the rate or terminate the appointment, at the sitter’s discretion.  The client will be charged the 4 hour minimum.
  • A parent or guardian of each child must sign a Medical Authorization and Service Agreement form at the beginning of the appointment.  The form must be signed without alteration.   The sitter cannot go forward with the appointment if the form is altered in any way.  At the end of the appointment, the sitter will complete a Verification of Payment form to show the total charge, deposit(s) credited and balance due.  Your signature is also required on the Verification of Payment form.  If you want a receipt, please be sure the sitter completes and gives you the receipt on the bottom of the form.  Upon request, we will send you the forms in advance.
  • Sitters may not drive children in any vehicle or take them skiing or snowboarding on resort property while lifts are operating.
  • With your written permission, the sitter may take the children out of your lodging for activities at locations accessible by foot, shuttle bus or other public transportation.
  • Written parental permission is also required if you would like the sitter to bathe children or take them swimming or to the hot tub.
  • The appointment must take place in an appropriate setting, typically the client’s home, condo, or hotel room.  Friendly pets may be present if discussed in advance to avoid any allergy problems.  In certain circumstances, it is possible for the sitter to care for children in a public setting such as a lodge, recreation area or outside.
  • If there is a stocked kitchen, the sitter may prepare simple meals for the children.  The sitter may also coordinate restaurant or room service meals, if you wish.  You are not required to provide meals for your sitter, but you may choose to do so.
  • Our sitters cannot care for sick children, including those who have a fever, productive cough or those who may have a contagious disease.  Sitters may administer simple medications based on your clear instructions.  Please discuss any special needs with us at the time you request a sitter.  We have many sitters who have experience with special needs children.  If a sitter arrives to find an ill child or undisclosed special needs, the sitter may terminate the appointment at the sitter’s discretion.  The client will be charged the 4 hour minimum.
  • Please call your sitter as soon as possible if you realize you will not return at your scheduled time.  Sitters will sometimes have transportation dependencies or another commitment.  If the sitter does not have another commitment, they are often able to extend an appointment.  Please don’t return late without checking with your sitter first.  If your sitter advises you that she/he has a “hard stop” at a certain time, please respect that.

Please reserve a sitter for me!
